Deadly floodwaters have caused heavy damage to towns in southern Germany. Several people are dead. In the Bavarian town of Simbach, a river nearby has overflowed, catching many residents by surprise. Helicopters were deployed to lift them to safety, but they weren't able to save everyone. (SOUNDBITE) (German) WATER RESCUE SERVICE WALDKRAIBURG, JUERGEN HANETZOK, SAYING: "There must have been flash floods where people had no chance to get out in time. Those on the first storey were lucky and got out while unfortunately others did not make it." Three bodies were found in the clean-up. Germany has declared several disaster areas, and the floods are expected to continue.
