Evacuations are underway in the popular ski town of Breckenridge, Colorado. Dry conditions are fueling a fast-moving wildfire in the mountain resort, one of many large wildfires raging in about a dozen western U.S. states. SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED RESIDENT, SAYING: "It almost made the mountains look small how big the smoke was." Crews attacked the flames from the air and on the ground. Becca Calhorn was one of the hundreds forced out of their homes. SOUNDBITE: BECCA CALHORN, RESIDENT, SAYING: "We saw a really big cloud of smoke and that's when we got the text to evacuate." In Northern Nevada, thick plumes of smoke rising from the Earthstone Fire which has also forced evacuations. Strong winds complicating efforts for firefighters. SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED FIRE OFFICIAL, SAYING: "The way the wind is shifting, you can feel it changing again now, it's moved in all types of different directions so it's getting spread out." Extreme heat in Southern California has also sparked several new wildfires there...and with no relief in sight, authorities are warning of more to come.
