Some residents outside Tampa, Florida are worried about a giant sinkhole at a phosphate fertilizer facility that leaked over 200 million gallons of slightly radioactive waste water. Roselle Chen reports.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) MELANEA WOOD, FLORIDA RESIDENT, SAYING: "I'm this close and I've got young kids that, you know, are they going to be sick?" The sinkhole opened up at fertilizer facility Mosaic, which creates a radioactive byproduct during the production of phosphate. The sinkhole caused 215 million gallons of slightly radioactive waste water to leak into a major underground source of drinking water for the state. Enough water to fill more than 300 Olympic-sized swimming pools. (SOUNDBITE) (English) JESSICA BROADBENT, FLORIDA RESIDENT, SAYING: "These things pollute, and pollute our drinking water. How can I not be concerned?" The company says it has increased monitoring and sampling of groundwater and has found no offsite impact. It says it's started to pump some of the water but that it'll take time for the process to complete.
