NATURAL ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) A beached humpback whale has been successfully rescued off the Argentine coast after being in a state of peril for more than 24 hours. According to Argentine media reports, a hose was used to help drag the whale into open waters. Dozens of rescue workers participated in the effort. The mission succeeded in spite of a tide that was not quite as high as was originally hoped to help refloat the whale. The whale was reported to measure 15 metres (50 feet) in length, and weigh some 10 tons, according to Argentine media reports. Whale sightings are rare in Buenos Aires, but the marine mammal is usually spotted in the country's southern Vales Peninsula during whale season from September to March.
